Program Overview
The Youth Support Internship Program at Volunteer in Syria is designed for individuals who are passionate about youth empowerment, education, and community development. This program welcomes interns who are motivated, adaptable, and enthusiastic about creating positive change. No previous experience is necessary — our local team will guide and support you throughout your stay.

Interns work in after-school initiatives across Damascus, supporting children and teenagers aged 6–18 from underserved communities. Through this role, you will help provide academic assistance, mentorship, and fun, meaningful activities that encourage creativity, confidence, and personal development.
Project Description
Many young people in Syria face social or educational challenges due to limited access to quality learning environments. Our Youth Support Program helps fill this gap by offering additional support outside of school hours.
As an intern, you become a positive role model, helping students strengthen their academic performance, learn new skills, and broaden their horizons. Whether assisting with English, helping with homework, or leading interactive activities, your presence creates opportunities for young people to grow and feel supported.

Your Role and Impact
Interns play a key role in providing structured, nurturing support. Depending on the needs of the youth center, you may:
- Assist with homework and basic school subjects
- Support students with English learning
- Help lead arts and crafts projects
- Participate in sports and games
- Organize group activities that build teamwork and confidence
- Offer general assistance to the after-school team
The most important contribution you make is offering encouragement, stability, and inspiration — helping young people discover their potential.
Accommodation
When residing in Damascus, participants in the program will have the option to stay with a host family (depending on availability) or in a cozy apartment. Both options offer unique advantages.
Whichever housing option the participant chooses, their time in Syria will be immersive, enriching, and memorable!
